Day-by-day itinerary

What the operator has planned, day by day, across 5 days.

1. Day 1

   Arrive in Tanzania and transfer to Lake Manyara

   A morning arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, met by the guide and driven to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive, then on to the lodge in the evening. Overnight Serena Manyara Safari Lodge.

2. Day 2

   Manyara to Serengeti National Park

   Collected from the lodge at 08:00 for a four-and-a-half-hour drive to the Serengeti. Riverine forest for hippo and crocodile, plus giraffe, eland, zebra, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant's gazelle, with lion, cheetah, leopard and hyena. Birding across more than 500 species including kori bustard, ostrich, African fish eagle and the Serengeti endemics. Dinner and overnight at Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge.

3. Day 3

   and 4: Great Migration at Northern Serengeti

   Full days on safari in the eastern and northern Serengeti following the wildebeest. The operator notes the Gol Kopjes on the eastern plains carry the highest concentration of cheetah in Africa during the rains, as the cats follow the Thomson's gazelle onto the short-grass plains. Good for sunset viewing. Overnight at Serengeti Heritage Tented Camps.

4. Day 4

   Ngorongoro game driving

   An early start to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, managed for both wildlife and the Maasai who graze cattle there. Forest areas for monkey and elephant, the lake area for flamingo, and open savannah where the lions hunt. Picnic lunch in the crater, then on to Karatu in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Kudu Lodge Karatu.

5. Day 5

   Departure

   Collected from the hotel according to the flight schedule and transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport.
