Day 1
Arrival in Tanzania
Transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to a hotel in Moshi, with time to explore the town and start adjusting to altitude.

Day 2
Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree Camp)
2,100 m to 2,650 m, 6 km, around 3-4 hours. Registration at Londorossi Gate, then a trek through rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp.

Day 3
Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp
2,650 m to 3,500 m, 8 km, 5-6 hours. Out of the forest and into moorland, with the first close views of Kibo, Kilimanjaro's summit.

Day 4
Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp
3,500 m to 3,850 m, 8 km, roughly 4-5 hours. An acclimatisation stage with an easier walk across the Shira plateau.

Day 5
Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower
Up to 4,630 m at the Lava Tower for acclimatisation before descending to Barranco Camp at 3,950 m. About 10 km and a demanding 6-7 hours. Barranco is known for its giant groundsels.

Day 6
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
3,950 m to 4,035 m, around 5 km, 4-5 hours. The day opens with the climb up the Barranco Wall, then continues through alpine desert to Karanga.

Day 7
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
4,035 m to 4,673 m, 4 km, 4-5 hours. Across alpine desert to Barafu, the base camp for the summit push.

Day 8
Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak, down to Mweka Camp
4,673 m to 5,895 m at Uhuru Peak, then down to 3,100 m. Around 5 km up and 12 km down; 7-8 hours ascending and 4-6 descending. A midnight start for the summit push, then down to Mweka Camp for the night.

Day 9
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, return to Moshi
3,100 m down to 1,630 m, about 10 km and 3-4 hours. Summit certificates at Mweka Gate, then transport back to the hotel in Moshi.
