Day 1
Arrival
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, met by a driver and transferred to Moshi. Dinner and overnight at the Sal Salinero Hotel.

Day 2
Marangu Gate (1,843m) to Mandara Hut (2,700m)
Transfer to Marangu Gate for registration and an introduction to the support team. About 8km and four to five hours up a ridge trail through tropical rainforest, with blue monkeys near the upper forest edge. Optional short walk to Maundi Crater for views of Mawenzi. Overnight Mandara Hut.

Day 3
Mandara Hut (2,700m) to Horombo Hut (3,720m)
About 12km and six to eight hours out of the forest into high moorland of heather and Lobelia deckenii, with Kibo and Mawenzi visible in clear weather. Horombo is a complex for up to 120 people and the only hut on the mountain with beds. Overnight Horombo Hut.

Day 4
Horombo Hut (3,720m) to Kibo Hut (4,703m)
About 10km and six to eight hours, a gradual acclimatisation ascent with an optional walk to Zebra Rocks and the base of Mawenzi, then across the lunar desert to Kibo Hut at the foot of the crater wall. An early dinner before the summit attempt. Overnight Kibo Hut.

Day 5
Kibo Hut (4,703m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), descent to Horombo Hut (3,720m)
A midnight start with tea and refreshments for the 6km ascent, six to eight hours in cold and wind to Gilman's Point, then on to Uhuru Peak via Stella Point at dawn. A 16km descent of four to five hours back to Horombo. Overnight Horombo Hut.

Day 6
Horombo Hut (3,720m) to Marangu Gate (1,848m)
About 20km and five to seven hours down through the rainforest. Summit certificates are issued at park headquarters at Marangu Gate, then transfer to the Sal Salinero Hotel in Moshi for a celebratory dinner.

Departure
Breakfast, then transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for the departure flight.
