Day 1
Arrival in Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to Arusha, at the foot of Mount Meru. The Arusha Declaration Museum and a welcome dinner of Tanzanian dishes. Overnight Arusha Serena Hotel.

Day 2
Arusha to Tarangire National Park
About 120km past Maasai homesteads, then a full day game drive in Tarangire, whose elephant herds sometimes reach 300 animals. An introduction to the Datoga people. Overnight Tarangire Sopa Lodge.

Day 3
Tarangire to Central Serengeti National Park
About 325km through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a stop at Olduvai Gorge, arriving in the Seronera area of the central Serengeti, which holds wildlife year round. Overnight Serengeti Sopa Lodge.

Day 4
Central Serengeti to Northern Serengeti
About 150km north to the less-visited northern sector, where the Mara River crossings occur roughly July to October. A visit to a local school supported by tourism, and afternoon game drives. Overnight Mara Under Canvas.

Northern Serengeti
A full day in the northern Serengeti following the migration herds, with background on the Kuria people of the Tanzania-Kenya border region. Overnight Mara Under Canvas.

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
About 180km to the crater and a descent for the game drive, with background on the Maasai communities living inside the conservation area. A Maasai boma visit to see the adumu jumping dance. Overnight Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge.

Ngorongoro to Zanzibar
A morning flight of roughly two hours from Manyara airstrip to Zanzibar, then transfer to a beach resort on the east coast of the island. Overnight Breezes Beach Club & Spa.

Zanzibar Stone Town
About 50km to Stone Town for a guided tour: the seventeenth-century Old Fort, the House of Wonders, the alleyways and shops, and the Old Slave Market and Chamber. Overnight Zanzibar Serena Hotel.

11: Zanzibar Beaches
Three days back at the beach resort, with a spice tour of local farms growing cloves, cinnamon, black pepper and nutmeg, a sunset dhow cruise, and a village visit covering island life and traditional fishing. Three nights at Breezes Beach Club & Spa.

Departure from Zanzibar
Transfer to Zanzibar International Airport for departure.
